So that, is that.  The winds up 2016/2017. Next week I shall unveil next year's list, which is always exciting.  Can't wait to see everyone else's round up (that also finish this week).

A Year of Projects Update - week 51

I am getting increasing excited about my new list!  I have ideas flying around I am finding it hard to concentrate on anything else!  If you are interested in joining us and want to start at the start of July, then head over to the group on Ravelry and join up.  Erin has come up with some great banners as always - thank you, Erin - I just need to choose which I will use.
A quick weather update - it is blazing sunshine here.  I am not a heat person but I am not complaining, although as a country not use to the heat we have no air conditioning - I am constantly sweaty (TMI - sorry).

FO's
I have two.  These were going to be a gift knit and a pair for Thomas, however, I think they will be too small for the recipient, so I have given them to Daniel.
WIP's
Breathing Space is coming along, but looks no different - so will report back in July when I shall hopefully, nearly be done.
I have a HO.
These are my June socks - which are Hermiones everyday socks knit in a stranded dyeworks sockblank in flamingo legs.

I also cast on some shorty socks out of leftover yarn - I think both yarns are by the Knitting Goddess.
And that is it for this week.  I will be back next week with my round up post and then I shall be presenting next year's list - hurrah!

A Year of Projects Update - Week 50

The end of the year is definitely looming - the YOP year that is!
We are all back to school here for the last half term and the weather this week has been very strange, even for the UK.  We had torrential rain to start the week and now this end of the week has been glorious sunshine again - still - not complaining.
WIP's
I have no FO's this week again, but  much progress has again been made on my WIP's.
My gift socks and Thomas's socks are the furthest along.  I have turned the heel and am now on the ribbing - I hope these will be done in the near future.
My Breathing space is also coming along nicely, I am on the endless stripes, but it is good fun.
And finally, my flamingo legs socks are coming along from the sock blank.  I am doing these one at a time as they are from a sock blank.  The pattern is Hermiones everyday socks.
You can also see in this photo my latest acquisition.  I won a prize!  I won the May Harry Potter KAL prize with Inside Number 23 with my Dobbies Hidden Socks.  The yarn is beautiful (from Sinister Yarns), and I've no doubt, will be a pair of socks themselves soon.

Actually just realised I do have an FO!  The test knit I completed the other week has been released - it is My Dearest, Loveliest Elizabeth by Knitterarium.  They are fabulous and I see more of these in my future.

A Year of Projects Update - week 49

Despite all that is going on in the world, we have had a lovely week.  Me and the boys went camping for 3 days down to the seaside city of Brighton.  We walked to the marina on the first day after we had set up camp to have some tea.  And on the second day we got a bus to the city centre.  We had such a nice time I really don't want to return to work, but I have to bear in mind there are only 7 weeks left before the summer holidays and I am lucky to have a job that allows us to do these sorts of things.
WIP's
I only have wip's this week, but they are all coming along nicely.
I have moved Thomas's socks onto a circular needle together with a pair of gift socks that are the same size. I am just turning the heel on all four.
I can't remember what yarn the stripey is but the blue is from West Yorkshire Spinners.
I have cast on my June socks.  These will be done one at a time and are from the sock blank from Stranded dyeworks in flamingo legs.
And my third and final wip is Breathing Space by Veera Valimaki.
I have got to the end of the short rows and now am ready to do some stockinette!  The yarn is mainly by Travel Knitter with a contrast that I dyed myself
I did have some acquisitions this week - I got some yarn for Christmas jumpers from John Arbon Textiles, but I will show you when I have it ready.
Hope you have had a good week, happy crafting and stay safe.

A Year of Projects Update - week 48

I'm at the start of half term break here.  My husband and Thomas have gone off to the play off final in London and so apart from going to Tilgate with Daniel and my sister-in-law I have a day of knitting.  Hopefully, I should be able to get a bit done in the week too.  We are going to Brighton camping on Tuesday for a couple of days - can't wait for that.

FO's
I finished the test knit in the week.  As soon as it is published, I will share the finished article.

WIP's
I have made it to the striping on Breathing Space as predicted.
This is such a lovely knit, I am using Travel knitter and some sock yarn I have dyed myself.  I have now split for the sleeves and am making my way down the body.
I have also cast on some new socks for Thomas.  He decided he wanted blue, so blue he has.  I am waiting to cast on some socks for me, but am waiting for the start of the month so I can make some June socks.
I think that is it for this week - hope everyone has a lovely week and if you have one, enjoy the long weekend.

A Year of Projects Update - Week 47

Oh my gosh, the year is rushing by!  It has been a little quieter around here this week and at the end of this next week is the mid term break so I will be really taking stock during that week and start putting together my thoughts on next year of projects.  But first, this week.
FO's
Yes I have two.  Both socks.  The first is socks by Amy Meeks.  The pattern is Dobby's Hidden Sock and is a bit different as it has no pictures.  The idea is you don't know what it looks like before you knit it.  Now I didn't do it exactly as written, I lost count of the rows and I put in a different heel, and I found the pattern quite tight so I didn't do as long a leg as I would normally do.  But I do like them!  I have only added a part picture just in case others would like to knit them in the same vein - I have linked my project page so you can see the stitches if you would like.
The second FO I have is the boot socks.  I love these and the colour is brilliant.  The yarn is by The Knitting Goddess and the pattern is totally mint by Katya Frankel.
WIP's
My Breathing Space is coming along, I am nearly up to the striping.  I have not included a pic this week as it looks very much the same as before.  Hopefully by next week I will be on the striping and it will start to look interesting!
My other WIP, I cannot show you either as it is a test knit for Knitterarium.  These are another pair of socks and they are lovely, knitting up really fast.  I will show you as soon as I can.

Acquisitions
No yarn this week but very excitingly my copy of Pom Pom came.  I had seen lots of reviews that sounded very good and it didn't disappoint.  There are four or five patterns this issue that I would like to knit - so I am thinking next years list......

Anyway that is it for this week, have a lovely week.

A Year of Projects Update - Week 46

I have managed to miss another week!  We had racing last weekend and then I ran out of time, didn't even manage to catch up with everyone.

WIP's
No FO's this week, but a lot of progress has been made.
I have progressed on my boot socks, I am using a pattern called Totally Mint by Katya Frankel.  These should be completed by next week.
I have also cast on my May socks - these are Dobbys Hidden socks by Amy Meeks.  I have deliberately hidden the leg as the point of the pattern is that there are no pictures and it is a surprise.  The only slight issue is that the slip stitches have made it quite tight, but I think that blocking will help - I hope.
I have also made  little progress on Breathing Space.
Hopefully I will get the May socks completed in a few days as I have signed up to another test knit.  It is again for Knitterarium and I hope tho cast those on this weekend.  The yarn I will be using is some I got in a secret santa by Hazel knits.
So what have we been doing?  It was Daniel's birthday yesterday, so we had a football party that he loved.
Before the racing last weekend, we took a little trip down the road to Brighton.  Amy of Stranded dyeworks was doing a trunk show at YAK in Brighton (and I do like YAK anyway!)  And I picked up this little lot.  A couple of yarns from Eden Cottage to do a stripey sweater I have my eye on, the special yarn shop day yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners and three skeins from Amy.  The blue and green, the boys picked out an the orangey one is for me!
I think that is quite enough.  I have some sewing plans for the next few weeks, but I shall show you that next week, and I will be back next week.  Hope everyone's week is lovely and crafty.

A Year of Projects Update - Week 44

Much progress has been made this week!
FO's
I finished my April socks just in time.  These are the Driftwood socks by Mina Phillips in the every flavour beans colourway by Little French Meadow.
Love them and will put them into the boxosox, Inside Number 23 Harry Potter and the Sock Bash KAL's.  It's a lovely little pattern giving a great texture.
I also finished From Way Back. It is done bar the blocking.  I love this cardi, and i think I will wear this a lot.  It is in a yarn by the no longer dyeing Mellifera yarn.
WIP's
Having finished the April socks, but not being able to cast on May socks until Monday, I have cast on some boot socks for me.  These are for a DK yarn so I am using a glorious yarn by the Knitting Goddess.  This is a textured pattern called Totally Mint by Katya Frankel.
I have also cast on Breathing Space.  This is the main colour by Travel Knitter.
We have a long weekend here, so hopefully I will be able to get in lots of knitting time today and tomorrow!  Hope you all have a good week.

A Year of Projects Update - week 43 (I think)

I managed to miss another week.  I was at my mum and dad's last week and although I fully intended to blog on Monday when I got home, it never happened!

FO's
I finished Jokull whilst at my mums.  It is glorious and done in plenty of time for our first camping trip booked for the end of May.
I will try to get some modeled shots at some point.  This is Jokull by Kate Davies and I have knit it in easy care wool and acrylic from Hayfield.
I also finished the socks for Daniel - here he is looking very mucky having developed a liking for chocolate hot cross buns!
Now of course Thomas wants another pair in blue.  He will have to wait as I have some Ma socks lined up and a pair of bot socks - both for me!
WIP's
I have made great progress on From Way Back.  I have all but finished the body and one sleeve, so just one sleeve and finishing to go.
I have also made good progress on my Easter socks - these are Driftwood by Mina Phillips in the Bertie Botts colourway from Little French Meadow.
My next projects are all lined up - the aforementioned socks and I have wound the yarn for Breathing Space.

Acquisitions
Now I decided this week that I needed another craft!  I have been watching podcasts and admiring the lovely embroidery that some add to their sewing projects (think little Bobbins or Sew Sweet Violet).  I decided I would like to do that so have got several classes on Creativebug and have started with the sampler class.  So my acquisitions were the equipment needed to start off.  I can see more in my future as this is strangely addictive at the moment.
And I think that is all.  Hope everyone has a great week.

A Year of Projects Update - week 41

We are experiencing some glorious weather here in the UK this last week or so.  Just as we go on spring break it has been very welcome.

FO's
I finished a couple of pairs of socks last week.  My March spring socks - Dumbledores Christmas stockings was the pattern and Life in the long Grass - rosehip was the yarn.  The yarn was gorgeous, you may not be able to make it our in the pictures but it is a striping colourway with green and pink stripes, each speckled in their own way.

The second pair of socks was my second gift socks - some rose city rollers for my mum.
I can also show you the test knit I carried out the other week.  These are To Darcy with Love by Knitterarium.  They were released in the week and she is now doing an Instagram KAL with them.  Really straightforward and well written pattern.

WIP's
I have made some progress on Daniel's green socks (using the leftover form the test knit) - I have turned the heel now.
I have also cast on my April socks - this is Driftwood by Mina Phillips in Little French Meadow yarn in the Bertie Botts colourway - reminds me of Easter eggs.
I have also made progress on Jokull - I have done the armholes and have started the colourwork at the top.
And finally I have made progress on From Way Back.
We are going to visit my mum for the next week and I intend to take all of these, so hopefully much progress will be made.
Acquisitions
I have been very good recently, but I got the chance to get my hand on some Stranded Dyeworks in the flamingo legs colourway and decided to treat myself to another sock blank.  I think this could become one of my summer socks!

A Year of Projects Update - Week39

It's going to be short and sweet this week as we have some beautiful spring weather today, so I am looking forward to getting out in it (it may not last for long!)
FO's
These are not from my list, but are finished nonetheless.  A host of chicks for a craft fair next week.
WIP's
I haven't made a whole lot of progress on much else this week (I think a flock of chickens is sufficient) but I did get my socks onto the needle for four at a time.
I am quite enjoying it - the yarn management is no more difficult than two at a time.  It is, of course, taking more time to make progress.
Will I do it again?  Possibly, but will probably stick to two at a time mostly.

We did go to Tilgate this morning and saw the animals.
Next week I have the craft fair and on the Sunday we are going to the car racing, so, in all honesty will probably be back in 2 weeks.  Have a good week!

A Year of Projects Update - Week 38

Firstly I have to apologise.  I have been getting more and more behind at reading and commenting on the blogs in the YOP group. Last week I didn't get to even read most of them.  I don't have a good excuse other than completing levels on Pet Rescue on my Kindle instead of reading blogs! This week, my mission is to catch up and get up to date.
I have been knitting too but most of my projects look much the same, so I have few photos this week.
WIP's
No finished objects, so straight into WIP's.  I am still working on Jokull and From Way Back, but they look no different so will show them next week. I have made lot's of Easter chicks as I have a craft sale coming up, but they are not finished so I will show them next week when they are done.
I also have Daniel's socks, but I haven't even picked them up, so hopefully, again, some progress next week.
Now the projects I have made progress on.  I have made great inroads into my March socks in Life in the Longgrass yarn in rosehip.  The yarn is gorgeous and I can't wait to wear these.
I am up to the heels and at which point I have grand plans!
I am also at the heels for my mum's Christmas socks - some Rose City Rollers in some leftover Knitting Goddess yarn.  The photo isn't great, but it's difficult to angle the shorty socks!
Now I really fancy having a go at four socks at a time.  I always knit them two at a time, but as I am at the same point I am going to have a go a four.  If it gets too complicated I can always take them off again.  I will report back next week.
And that is about it.  We went to the wildlife centre yesterday as there were some baby otters we hadn't seen yet.  They are now nearly the size of mum and dad!
